Engelberg Switzerland - February 1 - 9, 2013

A historic town with a great party scene and a mountain that's every free rider's dream. One of the biggest verticals in the Alps with snow sure slopes and epic off piste runs and great intermediate slopes.

Engelberg - 'the mountain of the angel' - was founded in 1120 by a Benedictine monk who heard an angel telling him to build a monastery where the town now lies. Today the monastery still stands and Engelberg echoes to the whoops of skiers here for incredible off-piste skiing and one of the world's longest vertical descents. The town is fairly compact, with the monastery at one end joined to the centre by the pedestrianized, cobbled Dorfstrasse.

The famous Rotair, the world's first revolving gondola, transports visitors up to 3000 m above sea level. The area includes 82 km of pistes to suit all abilities, from complete beginners to more accomplished skiers and boarders. A boarder park, cross-country ski runs and many more attractions promise endless fun in the winter sun!

Located less than 1 and 1/2 hour from Zurich, with a train station in town, there are many opportunities for sight seeing.

Italy's sixth largest city, GENOA (Genova in Italian) is a marvelously eclectic place, vibrant and full of rough-edged style. Sprawled behind the port area (Italy's biggest) is a dense and fascinating warren of medieval alleyways and caruggi (tiny alleyways): boasting more zest and intrigue than all the surrounding coastal resorts put together. It's here that most of Genoa's important palazzi are to be found, now transformed into museums and art galleries.
